Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Marietta Crash

A motorcyclist is suffering life-threatening injuries after a recent crash at Ernest Barrett Parkway, police say.

MARIETTA, GA — A person is suffering life-threatening injuries after being ejected from their motorcycle ahead of a recent crash in Marietta, Cobb County Police said Monday.

The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. Saturday at Ernest Barrett Parkway near Anderson Estates Court, police said.

A 2005 Honda motorcycle was heading north on Ernest Barrett at the same time as a blue 2009 Toyota Corolla, police said.

For an unknown reason, police said the motorcyclist separated from their vehicle, and the unoccupied motorcycle hit the Toyota's passenger side.

The motorcycle then crossed the median and uncontrollably rested on the western shoulder of Ernest Barrett, police said.

The motorcyclist landed on a driveway in the 3300 block of Ernest Barrett, police said. The listed address belongs to a county fire station.

The person, who was not identified, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, police said.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured, police said.

CCPD's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit is investigating the crash.
