1. Marietta property tax bills to be mailed August 26 (cobbcountycourier.com) — Marietta property owners will start receiving their 2026 city property tax bills by mail beginning August 26, with payments due by October 31. You can pay online through MariettaGA.gov, in person at City Hall on Lawrence Street, or use a new 24-hour drop box at the City Hall parking deck. The bill covers city, school, and local improvement district taxes, separate from Cobb County's.
2. 47 New Business Licenses Recorded in Cobb County (cobbcountycourier.com) — Dozens of new business licenses were just issued in unincorporated Cobb County, including many with Marietta addresses ranging from music lessons and hair braiding to handyman services, auto sales, and personal care homes. The list offers a snapshot of fresh services and shops setting up around Marietta neighborhoods, giving residents a sense of what's opening nearby and who's now licensed to operate.
3. Atlanta United 2 Earns 5-1 Win Against Orlando City B (atlutd.com) — Atlanta United 2 rolled to a 5–1 win over Orlando City B at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground in Marietta, highlighted by Arif Kovac's record-breaking 17th and 18th goals of the season. Cameron Dunbar added three goal contributions as the team reached a franchise-best 40 points. The squad now heads to Fort Lauderdale to face Inter Miami CF II on August 28.
4. Metro Atlanta man sentenced for $14K US Treasury stolen check fraud (wsbtv.com) — A Marietta man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for cashing stolen U.S. Treasury checks and leading officers on a 125-mph chase in Alabama. Prosecutors say he and an accomplice fraudulently obtained more than $14,200 before crashing into a power pole. He must also serve supervised release and pay restitution jointly with his co-defendant.
