Man Killed In Cobb Motorcycle Crash

The 20-year-old crashed his motorcycle into a motor coach that was turning in to a church, according to police.

AUSTELL, GA — A 20-year-old man was killed Monday when he crashed his motorcycle into a motor coach that was turning in to a Cobb County church, according to police.

The crash happened at about 6:31 a.m. Monday on Hartman Road, north of Lake Careco Road, in Austell. According to Cobb County Police, a white Motor Coach Industries bus with its flashers on was in the center lane, getting ready to turn right into Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral.

That's when James Dennis, 20, of Temple, began approaching from the south on his 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The bus driver, Fertissue Thomas, 45, of Morrow, began turning right and the motorcycle hit the motor coach, police say.

According to police, a witness said the Harley Davidson had improperly passed her in the center turn lane at what she described as high speed. Investigators believe Dennis's speed contributed to the crash, Cobb Police spokeswoman Officer Sarah O'Hara said.

She said no charges are expected to be filed in the crash.
