Motorcyclist Runs From Cops, Dies In Crash: Police

Cobb County Police say the biker's speed was a factor in the wreck that killed him after a Paulding County deputy tried to pull him over.

MARIETTA, GA — A motorcycle rider trying to speed away from a traffic stop Tuesday night was killed after he crashed into a pickup truck and was thrown from his bike, according to police.

Cobb County Police say a Paulding County Sheriff's deputy tried to stop Freddie Allen Few III, 23, of Mableton, at about 10:31 p.m. Tuesday on C.H. James Parkway. Few, riding a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, refused to stop and began speeding toward Oglesby Road in Cobb County, police said.

At the intersection, a 2009 Dodge Ram pickup truck was getting ready to turn left from C.H. James onto Oglesby Road. As its driver — Guillermo Martinez, 33, of Austell — turned, he crossed into the motorcycle's path.

Police say Few was going so fast that, when he hit the pickup truck, it rotated and eventually flipped over onto its roof. Few was thrown off of his bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martinez was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police said Wednesday that, while the investigation of the crash continues, they believe Few's speed contributed to the crash. No charges are expected to be filed, Officer Sarah O'Hara said.
