• FEMA Announces Another $1 Million for Excelsior EMC for Hurricane Helene • The Georgia Virtue (thegeorgiavirtue.com) — Excelsior EMC, based in Metter, is receiving another $1 million from FEMA to cover emergency protective measures after Hurricane Helene, on top of a previous $971,000 award. The funding helps repair massive damage to electric infrastructure across southeast Georgia, including Candler County, after thousands of poles, lines, and transformers were destroyed, driving one of the state's costliest utility recoveries ever.
