$5,000 Grant Awarded to Moving in the Spirit

The grant will be used to provide at-risk children with access to artistic and educational enrichment.

Hundreds of children will benefit from the latest grant from the Delta Community Credit Union Philanthropic Fund. The $5,000 grant was awarded to Moving in the Spirit, which provides at-risk children with access to artistic and educational enrichment.

Moving in the Spirit serves 6-10 year olds in Fulton and other counties who confront achievement gaps at school, poverty at home and crime in their neighborhoods. It provides training in dance techniques and movement therapies, which gives students a sense of dignity, purpose and belonging. Educational workshops cover topics like nutrition, drug abuse and conflict resolution.

The grant was awarded at a ceremony this week at Delta Community’s Midtown Atlanta branch. A second grant, for $2,500, was awarded to Habitat for Humanity in Atlanta to help sustain its mission of building quality, green, affordable homes.
