Kilpatrick Townsend’s Wendy Choi and Ken Jenkins Appointed to the State Intellectual Property Office of China – U.S. Bar Liaison Council
ATLANTA (December 16) -- Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that partners Wendy Choi and Ken Jenkins have both been appointed to the State Intellectual Property Office of China (SIPO) – U.S. Bar Liaison Council. Ms. Choi will be representing the IP Section of the Atlanta Bar Association and Mr. Jenkins will be representing the San Diego IP Law Association. The SIPO – U.S. Bar Liaison Council serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information between council delegates and the Chinese Patent Office, focusing on U.S. applicants seeking patent protection in China. The council shall also advise the SIPO concerning observations and experiences of U.S. applicants and their representatives on seeking patent protection in the SIPO, and seek from the SIPO information regarding its observations and experiences in regard to U.S.-origin patent applications.
Ms. Choi focuses her practice on complex patent prosecution and counseling, and IP strategy. She has more than 20 years of experience representing clients in the chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries, ranging from start-up companies to large corporations in both domestic and international patent matters.

Dr. Jenkins is the Managing Partner of the firm's San Diego office. His practice focuses on patent counseling and patent litigation, primarily in the health and life sciences industries. Dr. Jenkins routinely counsels biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies of all sizes in developing their patent claiming and filing strategies, procuring patents on cornerstone technologies, and strategically managing patent portfolios to maximize investments. He also counsels lenders and investors in assessing the value of patent assets through due diligence reviews, including validity analyses, freedom to operate analyses, and in-licensed technology investigations. In addition to patent counseling, Dr. Jenkins represents pharmaceutical companies in high-stakes patent litigations involving challenges under the Hatch-Waxman Act.
