WHY: Hunger in our society is more prevalent than ever with an estimated 50 million Americans living in food insecure households. Georgia is one of 10 states with a food insecurity rate significantly higher than the national average. Poverty in the metro-Atlanta suburbs increased 122% from 2000 – 2012. Kids, our most cherished and vulnerable population, are at the greatest risk. 28.1% of kids in Georgia live in households who have trouble accessing enough food, which is 6th highest in the nation.

This screening of “A Place at Table” is an opportunity for the community to come together for a few hours to learn more about the issue of hunger and how everyone can help. Hunger is a solvable problem if we come together and take action.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank’s mission is to engage, educate, and empower the community to fight hunger.
