Atlanta Cop Allegedly Pulled Taser Outside City Limits
The officer says he was trying to break up a fight, though he was well outside of his jurisdiction at the time.

An Atlanta police officer may be in hot water after police in Newnan say he pulled out his department-issued taser to break up a fight in their jurisdiction last month.
Eric Whipple, who has been with Atlanta police for roughly two years, was caught on an officer’s body camera in the aftermath of a July 5 incident in which witnesses claim he pulled out the device and ordered a person to the ground. WSB-TV reports that one of the people involved in the incident thought that Whipple pulled a gun on him.
Whipple told the officers that he presented his badge while using his taser, and also presented the officers with his police identification. Officers told Whipple that his superiors in Atlanta may be upset with him for exercising police powers outside his jurisdiction, WSB-TV says.
