Atlanta Department of Public Works Will Collect Trash on Thanksgiving

Thursday customers will not need to alter their routines to accommodate the holiday, but will see changes on Christmas and New Year's Day.

Atlanta residents who have their solid waste picked up by the city’s Department of Public Works each Thursday can leave their garbage on the street tonight and rest assured knowing that it will be collected on schedule.

The department has released its holiday collection schedule, which confirms that collections will proceed as normal on Thursday, Nov. 27. Residents who get their garbage collected on Thursdays will need to change their routines for Christmas and New Year’s, as garbage trucks will not be running during these holidays.

Thursday customers will have their garbage collected on Friday, Dec. 26 and on Friday, Jan. 2, respectively, the schedule says. The department reminds residents to have their collection bins on the curb by 7 p.m. the day before the assigned collection day and asks that the bins be off the curb by 7 p.m. on collection day.
