Atlanta Man Wins New Car, $40K

The Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport employee won an instant game from the Georgia Lottery.

An Atlanta man is celebrating a win from the Georgia Lottery. Elroy Kemp III, who celebrates his 24th birthday this month, won a brand new 2015 Cadillac SRX, plus $40,360, playing the instant game Cadillac Riches.

Georgia Lottery representatives presented the lucky winner with keys to his new SUV Friday morning at Heritage Cadillac, 7134 Jonesboro Road in Morrow.

“I’m excited,” said Kemp, who works for a private charter service at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. “First, I’m going to my mom’s house to show (the Cadillac) off to the rest of my family.”

“She was screaming. I couldn’t believe it,” he recalled. “I was shocked, really.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $16.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.4 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
