Atlanta Police Announce Command Staff Personnel Changes

New Assistant Chief, Deputy Chiefs as well as new Commanders in Zone 4, Training Academy, OPS, COPS, Homicide

The Atlanta Police Department is pleased to announce the following appointments and transfers effective January 1, 2015.

“I recognize that a key element of success is to put the right leadership in the right place at the right time. These new appointments and transfers will bring fresh thinking to the table and these commanders will continue our #1 mission which is to reduce crime in the City of Atlanta,” said Chief George Turner. “I’ve asked each of them to approach their new positions with a critical eye, to seek out improvements and provide a new perspective.”

· Deputy Chief Shawn Jones has been appointed to the rank of Assistant Police Chief. He was previously Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigations Division.

· Major Rodney N Bryant has been appointed to the rank of Deputy Chief Community Services Division. He was previously Commander of Zone 4.

· Major Darryl K. Tolleson has been appointed to the rank of Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigations Division. He was previously in charge of the Training Academy.

· Captain Paul Guerrucci has been appointed to the rank of Major and will be in command of the Training Academy.

· Captain Adam Lee has been appointed to the rank of Major and will head the Major Crimes Section.

· Captain Darin Schierbaum has been appointed to the rank of Major and will head the Special Enforcement Section.

· Captain Henrietta Smith has been appointed to the rank of Major and will be the Commander of the Community Oriented Policing Section.

· Lt. Michael O’Connor has been appointed to the rank of Captain and will be the new Homicide Unit Commander.

· Lt. Terrell Griffin has been appointed to the rank of Captain and will be the new Night Commander.

· Major Barbara Cavender is the new Chief of Staff. She was previously in charge of Special Enforcement.

· Major Byron Martin is the new Commander of the Office of Professional Standards. He was previously in charge of the Community Oriented Policing Section.

· Major Vincent Moore is the new Zone 4 Commander. He previously served as Chief of Staff.

· Captain Janet Vincent has been transferred to the E-911 Center. She previously served as the Night Commander

· Officer Courtney Murphy has been named the new L.G.B.T Liaison. She replaces SPO Brian Sharp who will serve in Zone 5.
