Atlanta Police Featured In Television Show

"Drugs, Inc." premieres on Aug. 13 at 9:00pm

The Atlanta Police Department Narcotics Unit is featured in the television series Drugs, Inc. premiering on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 9 pm/8c on the National Geographic Network.

The Atlanta Police Narcotics Unit consists of three teams who work to stop the drug trade in the City of Atlanta. Viewers will glimpse a small part of their work in the “Molly Madness” episode. “Our Narcotics Unit is one of the best in the nation,” said Chief George Turner. “I am proud of the work they are doing and know that they are making a profound difference in our communities by arresting drug dealers and making our neighborhoods safer.”

This episode focuses on a powdered form of the drug, MDMA, known as “Molly” which is exploding in popularity across the United States. Molly is a rebrand of MDMA, formerly sold in pill form as Ecstasy. Promoted as purer, cleaner and without additives, Molly has become a popular drug among young people. But as the consumer demand for Molly has exploded, the production of pure MDMA has struggled to keep up with supply. As a result new, dangerous chemicals are finding their way into the market.
