Atlanta Schools That Are Closing Early Because of Winter Storm
A winter weather advisory is in effect beginning at 3 pm throughout metro Atlanta.

Here is a list of Atlanta schools that are closing on Friday as a result of winter weather conditions:
- Atlanta Public Elementary Schools -- closing at 11 am
- Atlanta Public High Schools -- closing at noon
- Atlanta Public Middle Schools -- closing at 1 pm
- Atlanta Metropolitan State College -- closing at noon
- Atlanta Classical Academy -- closed
- Atlanta Country Day School -- closing at noon
- Atlanta First Day School -- closing at 1 pm
- Atlanta Girls School -- closing at noon
- Atlanta Heights Charter School -- closing at noon
- Atlanta International School -- closing two hours early
- Atlanta Metropolitan College -- closing at noon
- Atlanta Preparatory School of the Arts -- closing two hours early
- Atlanta Technical College -- closing at noon
- Fulton County school system -- closing two hours early
- Georgia State University -- closing at noon
- Georgia Tech -- closing at noon
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for DeKalb, Fulton and Cobb counties that takes effect at 3 pm on Friday and lasts through 7 pm on Saturday.
This follows a winter storm warning for much of north Georgia. Up to 1 inch of snow could fall on Atlanta and its surrounding area.

The state of Georgia is closing its offices at noon on Friday in advance of wintery conditions.
Much of metro Atlanta is forecast with a 100 percent chance of precipitation for Thursday night and Friday morning, but the chance of snow is less here than the rest of north Georgia.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the low 40s Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service. Highs are expected to rise into the upper 40s on Friday.
However, lows are expected to fall to freezing levels on Friday night, and that’s when the chance of snow is greatest throughout Atlanta and DeKalb and Cobb counties.
On Saturday, clear to partly cloudy skies are expected to return, with highs reaching into the 40s. Lows are expected to be in the upper 20s on Saturday night, and no chance of precipitation is forecast.
