Atlanta Woman Murdered on Caribbean Island
Midtown resident Jessica Lewis Colker was killed Sunday night while walking on a Grenada beach with her husband.

A Candler Park woman was murdered Sunday night on the island of Grenada while walking on a beach with her husband during their Caribbean vacation.
Jessica Lewis Colker, 39, was a physician’s assistant with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, according to the AJC. Colker was attacked by an assailant using a cutlass-style sword on a St. David beach. Her husband, Brian Melito, 62, also a physician, reportedly escaped the attack.
U.S. officials confirmed Colker’s death on Monday.

In a statement reported by WSB-TV, Children’s Healthcare said, “Jessica was a valued member of our Children’s team. We are deeply saddened by this horrific news.”
A Grenada TV station is reporting that a suspect is in custody.
