Jersey Boys to the big screen???  This film has been in the pipelines since 2010 when GK Films acquired the rights to produce the film version of the musical with director Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Elf).  In 2012, Variety reported that Warner Brothers dropped the film plans, but now the film is back on track with Clint Eastwood directing the picture and filming beginning this year!  This now begs the question will this be a success (Les Miserables, Mamma Mia) or will be a commercial and critical flop (Rock of Ages)?   Though Clint Eastwood has never directed a musical before, he has won 2 Oscars for directing (Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby), so he is definitely qualified for the role of Director.  Also, word has it that Broadway stars John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, Michael Lomenda (all of whom were in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys) will be casted in the film.  With this combination, one could only suspect that this movie will be a success.

That cast of Evita’s National Tour has been announced!  The cast will include Sean MacLaughlin as Juan Peron, Christopher Johnstone as Magaldi and Krystina Alabado as the Mistress. Desi Oakley will play the alternate Eva. Young made his Broadway debut in the 2012 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar (another Lloyd Webber/Rice classic) as Judas Iscariot and received a Tony nomination for his performance.  Bowman was most recently seen on the Great White Way in the ensemble of Kinky Boots. She made her Broadway debut in the ensemble of Wicked, where she also understudied the role of Elphaba.  MacLaughlin’s Broadway credits include Lestat, The Woman in White, Bombay Dreams and The Phantom of the Opera.
