AT&T Sues City, MARTA Over Streetcar Deal

The telecommunications company claims the city failed to reimburse them for relocating utilities and seeks over $5 million in damages.

AT&T has sued the City of Atlanta and MARTA over a disagreement stemming from work related to the new Atlanta streetcar, WSB-TV says.

According to the lawsuit, AT&T was supposed to be reimbursed for relocating its utilities in order to accommodate the new streetcar lines, but the city and the transportation authority have not paid up. AT&T is demanding $5.7 million in restitution, WSB-TV says.

WSB-TV received a statement from the office of Mayor Kasim Reed which says that the city never agreed to reimburse AT&T and will be willing to go to court to defend themselves.
