Babalu Tacos and Tapas Set to Open This Year in Midtown

The restaurant's first Atlanta location will be in the 33 Peachtree Place development.

Babalu Tacos and Tapas plans to have the company's first Atlanta location open before the end of 2016.

The restaurant will be located at 33 Peachtree Place, reports Atlanta Magazine. The lease was signed earlier this month.

Babalu is based in Jackson, MS. While the restaurant focuses on small plates like tamales, tacos, and shrimp and grits, Eat Here Brands, which owns the concept, wants its Atlanta location to also be unique to the community.

Eat Here Brands president Bill Latham said, “The executive chefs in our restaurants have a pretty-good bit of flexibility. We are very focused on going to local vendors for our products.”

Babalu is also opening new locations in Charlotte and Chapel Hill, NC; and Lexington, KY.
