Billboards Supporting Police Appear in Midtown

The Outdoor Advertising Association is spearheading the endeavor.

The Outdoor Advertising Association of Georgia (OAAG) has launched a series of billboards across the state supporting law enforcement, and two of them are in Midtown.

One of the billboards is located near Atlantic Station, at 17th Street and Bishop, while the other is on Peachtree Road near Piedmont Hospital.

"This is something that our board has discussed doing for many years," said Connor Poe, president and CEO of the organization. "Normally, our companies will do this kind of PSA on their own. The only difference here is that we are utilizing all OAAG members who own digital billboards rather just one company doing it, which gives the message a much larger reach.

"We should see more than 100 of these statewide over the next few weeks reaching to every corner of the state."

The effort comes in the wake of several recent killings of police officers around the nation, including Baton Rouge, LA and Dallas, TX, and the protests over police officers involved in the shooting deaths of young, black men, including Philando Castile in St. Paul, MN.See also:
