UPDATE: Police Say No Obvious Signs of Foul Play in Death of Person Found In Loews Atlanta Parking Garage Ventilation

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office will continue the investigation, Atlanta police report.

UPDATE (3:51 p.m.): Atlanta police have released a statement concerning the discovery of a body inside a ventilation fan of the Loews Atlanta Hotel parking deck on Friday morning.

According to the statement, police were dispatched to the parking deck at 9:44 a.m. and were told by paramedics and firefighters that an adult male’s body had been found in the ventilation fan on the seventh floor. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Atlanta Police Homicide Unit were dispatched to the parking deck, the statement says.

The statement says that the initial investigation revealed no obvious signs of foul play which could have caused the man’s death, and police suspect the man somehow got into the ventilation system on his own accord and became trapped in the fan compartment.

The case has been turned over to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, the statement reports.

UPDATE (2:11 p.m.): Atlanta police have confirmed that the parking garage where a body was discovered in the ventilation system on Friday is attached to Loews Atlanta Hotel.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the body was discovered around 10 a.m. lodged inside a fan on the seventh floor of the parking deck located at 1065 Peachtree St.

ORIGINAL STORY: Atlanta police and fire personnel are working to recover a body which was found inside the ventilation system of a Midtown parking deck on Friday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

According to the AJC, the body was discovered around 10 a.m. lodged inside a fan on the seventh floor of the parking deck, located in the 1000 block of Peachtree Street.

APD spokesperson Kim Jones told the AJC that investigators are attempting to determine whether or not foul play caused the person’s death. Jones told Patch that no further information has become available since 11 a.m.
