CHEER FOR CHILDREN BALL CELEBRATES "HAPPILY EVER AFTER" ON OCT. 16

Georgia Center for Child Advocacy's Largest Fundraiser Turns 20

The Georgia Center for Child Advocacy’s (GCCA) Cheer for Children Ball celebrates its 20th anniversary on Friday, Oct. 16 from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the American Spirit Works (199 Armour Drive). This year’s theme is “Helping Children Reach Their Happily Ever After.”

The largest fundraiser for the GCCA, the Cheer for Children Ball features a delectable array of chef stations provided by the American Culinary Federation, Greater Atlanta Chapter; live entertainment by The Maxx Band; and exciting silent and live auctions. Tickets are $150 and may be purchased here.

“The Cheer for Children Ball is a highlight of our social calendar each year, but most importantly, it provides the much-needed funds for the children and families served by the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy” said Martha O’Neill, GCCA volunteer and chair of the Cheer for Children Ball. “We are fortunate that Atlanta is such a philanthropic community because we really rely on public support to be able to provide these services and help heal children. We just can’t do it without our community.”

All of the funds raised from the event and auction support the GCCA, a center committed to championing the needs of sexually and physically abused children through prevention, intervention, therapy and collaboration. The GCCA works to ensure that children receive all the services needed following a report of abuse at no cost to children and families in Fulton and DeKalb County. To-date, over 13,000 children have been served and more than 65,000 adults have been provided child abuse prevention training throughout Georgia.

“Unfortunately, many people don’t think about child abuse until either someone you know is a victim or a tragic event is in the news,” said Nancy Chandler, CEO of the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy. “The Cheer for Children Ball is a chance to come together and raise money and awareness to help make a direct impact on the lives of children affected by abuse in our communities. It’s an incredible mission, and it will be a great night.”
