City of Atlanta Warming Center Remains Open Due to Frigid Weather
Residents are urged to take precaution during cold weather snap

Staff Report
The City of Atlanta Office of Constituent Services and Department of Parks and Recreation has determined, based on need and continued frigid temperatures, that the Old Adamsville Recreation Center will open Wednesday evening and will remain open, as needed, as an emergency overflow shelter for those in need.
The City of Atlanta is urging all residents and visitors to take precautions during this week’s cold snap. The National Weather Service (NSW) has issued a wind chill advisory in effect from 7 p.m. this evening to noon on Thursday including the possibility of freezing temperatures.

During periods of cold and freezing temperatures, Mayor Kasim Reed reminds Atlanta residents and visitors to remember the four P’s: protect people, pipes, plants, and pets.
“I urge all Atlanta residents and visitors to protect themselves, their homes, and pets during this weekend’s cold weather. By being proactive and exercising safety, we can protect our family and pets from dangerously cold weather,” said Mayor Reed.
