Community Blessing of the Animals at Rock Spring Church this Saturday

Every pet that attends will be individually blessed.

This Saturday September 27th marks the first ever Rock Spring Presbyterian Church Blessing of the Animals service. It will be held at 2pm in the church backyard. If it rains it will be held in Fellowship Hall. Event organizer Rock Spring member Mary Gowing says she thought of the idea of having this service when she was outside the church. She says. “I saw lots of people walking past the church walking dogs and the idea just came to me. I hope that in celebrating our shared love of our pets that we can experience even stronger friendships with our neighbors.” Also featured at the event will be some local rescue groups with information about what they do and how to get involved. There will be treats for people and pets alike. Their will be a memory wall to post photos of deceased pets to honor their memory. And Rock Spring will be collecting pet food for the Atlanta Humane Society. Pets need to be under the control of their owners at this event: leashed, crated, tanked or caged (depending on the animal).
