Construction Delays Push Back Marquee Club Opening
Construction at the historic Fox Theatre, at 88 years old, is proving to be a bit more complicated than originally thought.

From Allied Integrated Marketing: Due to construction delays, the Fox Theatre announced the Marquee Club presented by Lexus, originally slated to open Fall 2017, will not be completed until early 2018.
“The Fox Theatre is 88 years old, so we anticipated numerous challenges would present themselves once we began construction. However, this complex project has forced us to modify our timeline due to existing conditions which impacted our schedule,” said President and Chief Executive Officer of the Fox Theatre, Inc., Allan C. Vella. “We are presently working with the design and construction teams to develop a revised schedule so we can announce a firm grand opening date in the near future. For our current club members, we are in the process of contacting them to offer exclusive preview experiences in the months prior to the club’s grand opening.”
The addition of the Marquee Club, the largest expansion of the Fox Theatre in nearly a century, includes renovation to the retail space in the northwest corner of the building, which has not been updated in over 20 years. Led by Lord Aeck Sargent, a local architectural firm specializing in conservation and preservation of historic venues, the construction team identified unexpected conditions, which postponed the timeline of Marquee Club’s grand opening.

“With a historic and beloved building, such as the Fox Theatre, the construction team has to work diligently and carefully to ensure the structure of the building remains unharmed. We are committed to delivering a state-of-the-art, premium experience for the guests of the club while maintaining the historic fabric of the Fox Theatre for future generations,” said Karen Gravel, Director of Historic Preservation, Lord Aeck Sargent.
Upon its completion, the Marquee Club will encompass 10,000 square-feet of premium event space to include multi-level interior and climate controlled exterior environments. Overlooking Atlanta’s famed Peachtree Street, the rooftop terrace will allow public access to the Fox Theatre’s roof for the first time in nearly 65 years.

“In creating the Marquee Club, a venue we intend to become as distinct and iconic as the Fox Theatre, we will need a little more time,” said Vella. “This gives the talented artists, who are working hard with us to bring the Marquee Club to life, an extended deadline to deliver the absolute best quality experience possible for our members. Our team will focus on curating and delivering world-class amenities to our guests for the 2018 opening.”
For Marquee Club members and guests, the club will be open before and after events, as well as during intermission. Guests will enjoy upscale food and beverage service within the club’s five stationary bars with passed and displayed hors d’oeuvres located throughout. Additional amenities will include priority pre-sale ticketing notifications, private restrooms, dedicated lobby elevator, concierge guest services, and for select memberships, self-parking access to an adjacent lot. At intermission, guests will have access to pre-ordered drinks, dessert and coffee offerings.
