CORE Performance Company to Present "Edge in Unexpected Spaces, March 4-5 at 55 Park Place
The free performances will be offered as part of the "Off the EDGE" biennial contemporary dance festival and will feature new works.
CORE, the award-winning contemporary dance organization based in Atlanta and Houston (www.coredance.org), will present “Edge in Unexpected Spaces” Friday-Saturday, March 4-5 at 55 Park Place on the Georgia State University Campus. The free performances will be offered as part of the “Off the EDGE” biennial contemporary dance festival, presented by Georgia State University’s Rialto Center for the Arts in partnership with Kennesaw State University, March 4-5.
CORE has commissioned and will present works by Atlanta contemporary choreographers: Gregory Catellier, Kristen O’Neal, Sharon Carelock and CORE Performance Company member Erik Thurmond, who has created his first piece for his fellow company members. Sharon Vanzanna, guest choreographer from Israel, will also offer a work for the program.
“CORE is thrilled to present these exciting new works by a group of talented local and international choreographers as part of the ‘Off the EDGE’ festival,” said Sue Schroeder, co-founder and artistic director of CORE. “Audiences will not only have the opportunity to see compelling dance works created by innovative choreographers, but the non-traditional performance space will compliment the movement and enhance the audience’s experience. I firmly believe dance has the ability to ignite compassion and move us toward empathy, which is why I am honored to bring together this particular group of choreographers of various nationalities and viewpoints.”
