Donations Sought to Help Animals Seized in Dog Fighting Bust

Fulton County Animal Control is reaching out to the public for donations of food, hay, linens, and other supplies to help care for dozens of animals taken from a rural south Fulton County home where a suspected dog fighting ring was broken up.

According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Police and animal welfare workers removed 33 dogs, two horses, and four pigs from a property in the 5200 block of Koweta Road. The animals are now in the care of Fulton County Animal Control, but workers are turning to animal lovers to donate much-needed supplies for the recent intakes.

Animal Control has set up a Facebook page to get the word out and to provide an exact “shopping list” for people interested in bringing in supplies to help the rescued animals. Some of the items requested by Animal Control are:

• all types of linens - blankets, sheets, fleece
• newspaper
• cleaning supplies
• dog food - any kind - for large and small dogs!
• boxes of plastic bags
• latex gloves, rubber gloves.
• corn oil

The Facebook page says that bruised or older produce can be purchased at most grocery stores for a discount; these fruits and vegetables will be used to feed the pigs that were recovered during the bust.

Fulton County Animal Control is located at 860 Marietta Boulevard in Atlanta.

Animal lovers who want to make a financial contribution to support the rescued animals can make a donation to the LifeLine Animal Project. Please specify in the Comment section that your donation is meant for the “Koweta Rd. Rescue.”
