Ebola Patient to be Treated in Atlanta
Over 700 people have died in an outbreak in West Africa.
A person infected with the Ebola virus during the current outbreak in western Africa will be treated in a special isolation unit in Atlanta, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The AJC, quoting an statement from Emory University Hospital, says that it is not clear when the patient will arrive in Atlanta. However, the hospital is one of four hospitals in the country with a special isolation facility built to treat people exposed to especially virulent infectious diseases. The area is physically apart from the rest of the patients,
In Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria, 1,323 people have been infected and 729 have died since the outbreak began in February, 2014. This is the most severe outbreak of Ebola in history.
