Eclectic Market Opens in West Midtown
A new market that features local vendors will open this weekend at Eclectia in West Midtown.
A new market opens this weekend at Eclectia on Howell Mill Road in West Midtown.
"We've got some real surprises that will line the street," said Eclectia owner Kenn Gugel, who calls himself "Atlanta's Prop Finder."
About 15 vendors will sell items including handbags, jewelry, leather goods and pet supplies inside and outside Eclectia, a building that doubles as a retail shop, event space, prop storage and eBay store. As you walk around Eclectia, you'll also find theatrical items like a giant urn from the 60s movie "Cleopatra," as well as life-sized "lamp" women and a heart statue that is eight feet tall.

The market will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. People are welcome to bring their pets to the market, Gugel said. "This is Fido's playhouse," he said.
Sales will benefit Atlanta Angels on Call, a nonprofit that helps needy people, Gugel said.

Plans are to hold the market the third weekend of every month. "We're going to build on this," Gugel said. He said he envisions the event will grow to include live music and magic shows.
