FAAN Walk for Food Allergy - Atlanta

The two-mile Walk for Food Allergy - Atlanta raises funds for crucial food allergy awareness, advocacy, education, and research.

The Atlanta Walk is one of 40 Walks in cities across the country and one online are scheduled produced by the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN).

The Walk starts at 9:00 a.m. with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. Local allergists, support group members, and vendors will be on hand to answer questions. Additionally, there will be live music, face painting, temporary tattoos, balloons, and an inflatable obstacle course.

The prevalence of food allergies and associated anaphylaxis appears to be on the rise, although the reasons are not clearly understood. According to the CDC, from 1997-2006 the number of children younger than 18 years of age with food allergies increased by 18 percent.

Walk participants can also register their EpiPen® and be entered to win an iPad 2 from Mylan Specialty L.P., formerly known as Dey Pharma, L.P. (one entry per walker), a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development, manufacturing, and marketing of prescription drug products for the treatment of respiratory diseases, severe allergic reactions, and psychiatric disorders.

Registration for FAAN’s Walk for Food Allergy in Atlanta is now open at www.foodallergywalk.org. Individuals, families, community groups, and anyone else wishing to raise funds for FAAN are encouraged to register and participate in this family-friendly event.
