The Intown Academy Scholastic Chess Tournament

The Intown Academy, a tuition-free, public charter school in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward neighborhood, is hosting a U.S. Chess Federation (USCF) scholastic chess tournament on Saturday, March 19th.  The event is open to all players in kindergarten-fifth grade from all schools. Doors will open at 9am with the first games beginning at 10am and the last game beginning at 4pm. Trophies will go to the top 5 players in each category USCF rated (K-1), (K-3), (K-5) and non-rated (K-5); all participants will get a ribbon.  Awards ceremony to immediately follow the last game (~5pm).  Entry fee is $20 for  players in rated games and $10 for  players in nonrated games. 

To register on-line, go to http://www.chess-coach.net; registration ends at midnight, March 17th. No on-site registration. You can purchase a USCF membership when registering and complete your membership paperwork at the tournament.  A snack bar will be available with healthy snacks, beverages, and lunch offerings.  Volunteers, especially those with a knowledge of chess, are needed for this event!
