Experimac franchise owner Ernest Duncan told WhatNow Atlanta that he decided to become involved in the concept after being a loyal Apple customer and learning there was a market for pre-owned devices, as well as repairs, trade-ins and upgrades for iPhones, iPads and other Mac computer products.

If the Midtown store is a success, Duncan said he may open additional locations in the future. The store's grand opening is planned for next month or July.

According to the company's website, Experimac first opened in West Palm Beach, FL, in 2009. Founder Jim Muir decided to expand and began offering others the opportunity to own Experimac locations through franchising. He then teamed up with Ray Titus, founder and CEO of the franchising company United Franchise Group in February 2015 with a plan to take the concept worldwide.
