According to WSB-TV, the FBI has prevented Georgia residents from committing acts of terror in the name of ISIS, a Salafi Jihadist movement which is fighting to establish a new Caliphate, or Islamic empire, in the Middle East and beyond. Some Georgians under investigation were arrested on unrelated charges to buy authorities time to build up terror cases against them, the FBI told WSB-TV.
The FBI says that ISIS’ use of social media has far surpassed any other terrorist group, and has enticed disgruntled young men from countries around the world to take up the cause in Syria or their home countries. With ISIS’ growing skill at radicalizing angry young men, the FBI urges residents to pay special attention to their surroundings and report anything that may be related to a potential act of terror.
