First Look: 'Killing Reagan' Now Filming in Atlanta

Atlanta, GA -- "Killing Reagan" is now filming in Atlanta, and the National Geographic Channel has released its first images.

Tim Matheson portrays the 40th president of the United States, while Cynthia Nixon plays First Lady Nancy Reagan and Kyle More plays John Hinckley, the man who attempted to assassinate Reagan in 1981.

Based on Bill O’Reilly’s and Martin Dugard's fourth No. 1 best-selling book, "Killing Reagan" takes a different approach than its predecessors, exploring how the attempted assassination on the newly elected president affected his time in office.

From the final, hotly contested months leading up to the 1980 election, the movie explores Reagan’s journey to the nation’s highest office and the challenges he faced to define himself as a leader. During this time, the mental health and obsessive tendencies of his would-be assassin, John Hinckley, unravel — leading up to that fateful day in 1981.
