Fly Away Home: Missing Owl Returned to Zoo Atlanta

An eagle-eyed neighbor spotted the wayward barn owl five days after he had flown the coop.

An animal that escaped from Zoo Atlanta has been successfully returned to the facility, The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports.

Soren the barn owl escaped from his trainers during a flying session on Aug. 10, Five days later, a resident on Farrington Avenue discovered the fugitive owl perched on his porch. Zoo Atlanta’s Bird Team recovered Soren, who had lost some weight and was suffering from dehydration, but did not seem to have any physical injuries.

Zoo staff believe the owl will soon be back to full strength.
