The former head of Atlanta Public Schools who was facing racketeering charges prior to her death earlier this month will be honored at a service on Tuesday afternoon.

Beverly Hall, 68, died on March 2 from the breast cancer that she had been battling for over a decade. The disease had weakened her to the point that she could not attend the APS cheating trial, where she stood accused of orchestrating the scheme to deliberately alter students’ test answers to improve achievement figures for the system.

The memorial will be held at 2 p.m. at The Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says. In lieu of flowers, Halls’ family asks that you donate to Sisters By Choice, a breast cancer education and support organization.
