Friday Night Music Remix: Russell Gunn

Join us at the High on August 21 for Friday Night Music Remix, featuring Russell Gunn and Jason Collier!

Grammy-nominated trumpeter, fluegelhornist, and composer Russell Gunn has applied hip hop’s energy, spirit, and intellectual rage to the jazz idiom, creating a synthesis that is truly contemporary.

Gunn weaves together elements of Cuban, Brazilian, African, “Go Go” music, and hip hop into an adventurously progressive jazz style. With a singular style that incorporates the influences of masters like Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, and Booker Little, Gunn continues to gain recognition.

Jason Collier will open from 6 to 7 p.m., followed by Russell Gunn from 7 to 10 p.m.
