GDOL to Help MARTA Recruit Police Officers in Atlanta

Applicants must be at least 21, pass a drug test, submit to a background check, and pass a polygraph test. Salaries begin at $35,609.

The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) will help MARTA recruit 18 police officers to guard the transit system in Atlanta. The recruitment will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at MARTA’s headquarters, 2424 Piedmont Road, N.E. The GDOL staff will screen the applicants prior to the interviews by the employer.

All applicants must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license. They must be able to pass a psychological test, along with a physical examination that includes an alcohol and drug-screening test. Also, they must be able to pass a background investigation, including criminal-history, credit check, and polygraph test.

Those who have at least two years of college, have completed an honorable tour of military service, or have Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certifications, such as a corrections officer, jailer, or peace officer, are encouraged to apply.

Salaries begin at $35,609 and range up to $54,787 for senior officers. In addition to company benefits, MARTA is offering a signing bonus of $3,000 for POST certified officers and $1,000 for non-certified personnel who meet other qualifications.
