The Canteen will open in the former spot held by The Spence early in 2017.

Atlanta, GA -- A new "micro food hall" will be opening in the former site of The Spence next year.
The Canteen will be owned and operated by the same team behind The General Muir. According to WhatNowAtlanta, the Canteen, at 75 Fifth Street in Tech Square, will include Fred's Meat & Bread, Yalla, TGM Bagel and Square Bar.
The Canteen is the latest venture, according to the AJC, for business partners Todd Ginsberg, Shelley Sweet and Jennifer and Ben Johnson.

The Spence closed last month, having been opened by celebrity chef Richard Blais in 2012.
Concentrics Restaurants founder Bob Amick said, "The Spence proved to be an exciting concept just as we had hoped. We weren't actively looking for buyers, but when we were approached the deal made a lot of sense. We are not at liberty to discuss who the buyers are at this time as it's still confidential."
