Georgia House Wants The 'Adoptable Dog' as State Mascot

ATLANTA, GA -- The Georgia House of Representatives has unanimously approved a bill making the so-called ”adoptable dog” as the state’s first-ever, official canine mascot.
The vote came on Tuesday, reports the AJC.

State Rep. Joe Wilkinson (R-Sandy Springs) came up with the compromise as lawmakers discussed making one breed over another as Georgia’s No. 1 canine.
Georgia already has an official bird (the brown thrasher), an official amphibian (the Green Tree Frog) ... even an official veggie (the Vidalia sweet onion).

Now, the Senate will consider whether to make the adoptable dog as the official canine, instead of other breeds like the bulldog (at the risk of offending anyone who hates UGA), the black lab (one of former Gov. Zell Miller’s faves), or others.
