Georgia Tech Student Robbed at Gunpoint, Police Say

The suspect ordered the victim into a bathroom while he got away with the student's backpack, according to police.

Georgia Tech police are on the lookout for a person they say robbed a student at gunpoint on campus on Monday night.

According to a campus alert quoted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a student was inside the College of Business at approximately 7 p.m. when a man asked to use his cell phone. The man went into the restroom, but came out brandishing a handgun, the alert said.

The man ordered the student to lay his backpack on the ground, go into the bathroom, and count to 100 before leaving. When the student left the bathroom, the man and the backpack were gone.

Police describe the suspect as a black male standing 5’10” tall and weighing between 160 and 175 lbs. with facial hair. He was last seen wearing a light blue shirt, blue jeans, a tank jacket, and a knit cap.
