Georgia native and soul legend Gladys Knight was present at the Georgia State Capital Tuesday to participate in an official ceremony which renamed a section of Midtown roadway to the “Gladys Knight Highway.”
According to WABE, the newly-christened highway is a section of Highway 9 between Peachtree and 14th streets, roughly between Point Pershing Park and One Atlantic Station.

The renaming was prompted by Senate Resolution 441, which was introduced into the Georgia General Assembly during the most recent legislative session. SR 441 declared “it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized by dedicating a road in her honor.”
