GPB Education Explores the states economy with Aflac, The Coca-Cola Company, Delta Air Lines, Georgia-Pacific and The Home Depot

GPB Education is launching “Entrepreneurship in Georgia,” the newest installment in its virtual field trip series highlighting the state’s rich history and culture. Teachers and students can now learn all about the history and economic impact of Aflac, The Coca-Cola Company, Delta Air Lines, Georgia-Pacific, and The Home Depot without leaving the classroom.
“Entrepreneurship in Georgia” explains each company’s inception and business history, including expansion, economic impact, charitable endeavors and much more. GPB Education’s virtual field trip series serves as a companion piece to its Georgia Studies Digital Textbook and is correlated to Georgia standards for 8th grade social studies.
“Entrepreneurship in Georgia” includes interviews with company executives and representatives who explain the highlights of each business, including its history and connection to entrepreneurship. Objectives of the virtual field trip include explaining the basic economic concepts of trade, opportunity cost, specialization, voluntary exchange, productivity and price incentives to illustrate historical events.

“Georgia is fortunate to have world-class companies such as Aflac, The Coca-Cola Company, Delta Air Lines, Georgia-Pacific and the Home Depot that are willing to share their knowledge and experience in a way that is directly impactful to students,” said GPB President and CEO Teya Ryan. “By participating in the ‘Entrepreneurship in Georgia’ virtual field trip they are providing Georgia students with the tools to become successful leaders.”
GPB’s virtual field trip educational materials are free and have become an appealing alternative as it becomes increasingly difficult for teachers to take students on class field trips due to the high cost of transportation and high demand for limited instruction time.
