Grady Memorial Settles Over Disabilities Charges
The hospital was accused of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act.

ATLANTA, GA -- Grady Memorial Hopsital has agreed to settle in a case where it was accused of violating the Americans With Disabilities Act.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia made the announcement on Tuesday. Grady was accused of violating the act by failing to ensure effective communication with individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office initiated an investigation after receiving a complaint from a deaf patient who was treated in the emergency room after falling from a ladder. He alleged he was in a lot of pain during his six-hour stay and didn’t understand most of what was being communicated because he wasn’t provided a sign language interpreter or other hearing service.
