According to CBS Atlanta, Rudy the Sphynx was traveling in a crate as his owner Tamsin Dayment flew from Seattle to Tampa. The pair had a layover in Atlanta, and Dayment went to the baggage claim in Florida expecting to pick up her cat.

CBS Atlanta says that Rudy’s crate broke open in a cargo loading area, and the cat took the opportunity to stretch his legs after a long flight.
And did he ever stretch them; according to the “Help Us Find Rudy” Facebook page, Rudy walked all the way from Terminal D to Terminal B, a distance of about one mile. Even more impressive, Rudy managed to cross two runways without being seen.
“He was heard meowing around midnight [Monday] by some airport employees, a search team then formed and they found Rudy!!” The Facebook page reports. “Besides a little dirt and very minor, superficial skin tears, he is unscathed!!:) Rudy was checked out by the airport vet and was found to be slightly dehydrated but ok!!!!”
Rudy has been reunited with his family.
