Hartsfield-Jackson Employee on Leave Following West Africa Trips

The Atlanta worker is in voluntary isolation for the next three weeks to ensure he has not contracted the Ebola virus.

An employee at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport will be spending the next three weeks away from his job after his recent trips to west Africa sparked fears that he may have contracted the deadly Ebola virus.

The worker has shown no signs of illness, but has agreed to voluntarily isolate himself for 21 days after his coworkers went to management expressing their concerns regarding the man’s travels, FOX 5 Atlanta reports. Doctors say it will take 21 days for them to determine whether the man has Ebola or not.

Despite missing three weeks of work, the man will still draw his pay.

Ebola scares are popping up around the metro Atlanta area in recent days; in Cobb County, a man who was being booked into jail on an alleged DUI charge said he had contracted the virus recently in Nigeria. The inmate tested negative for Ebola, and it turns out he hasn’t left the country in almost 10 years. The inmate now faces an additional, felony, charge of making false statements to police.
