Hot Cars and Pets Don’t Mix and LifeLine Animal Project’s Pets of the Week

Summer is officially here, and so is the heat.  So if you’re thinking about leaving your pet in the car while you run errands, even for just a moment, think again.  It doesn’t take much heat to make your car an unsafe place for your pet.  Did you know that the temperature inside your vehicle can rise almost 20º F in just 10 minutes. In 20 minutes, it can rise almost 30º F, and the longer you wait, the higher it goes. At 60 minutes, the temperature in your vehicle can be more than 40 degrees higher than the outside temperature. Even on a 70-degree day, that's 110 degrees inside your vehicle!

Your vehicle can quickly reach a temperature that puts your pet at risk of serious illness and even death, even on a day that doesn't seem hot to you. And cracking the windows makes no difference.  So protect your pets, and leave them at home while you run errands.

If you’re looking for a dog who is full of personality, then I am the guy for you!  My name is Simba, and I am a very handsome four-year-old Chow mix who loves to run and play outside.  I am also a gentle boy and get along great with all the animals here at the shelter.  I really love getting attention from people, and I’ll do anything to make you proud of me. The employees here at the kennel say that I am super smart, and they’ve already taught me basic commands.  I’m ready to learn more – can you teach me?  Please come meet me and find out if I’m the boy for you.

To meet Simba, please contact Kerry at 404-613-9157 or email her at: kmoyershorton@fultonanimalservices.com.  To view dogs or cats available for adoption, please visit the shelter at 860 Marietta Blvd NW, Atlanta, 30318 or go to www.fultonanimalservices.com/adopt
