Human Remains Found Near Midtown

Atlanta police plan to thoroughly sweep the area with cadaver dogs in hopes of finding additional remains.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that parts of leg bones discovered by a dog near Midtown are human remains.

According to Atlanta police spokesperson Kim Jones, a man living off of John Street near Bauder College noticed that his dog was bringing bones into the yard. When he realized the bones might be human, he called police. Officers responded at approximately 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and called in support from the Homicide Unit and the Medical Examiner’s Office.

An investigator with the Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that the segments of leg bones came from a person. Police spokesperson Gregory Lyon tells Patch that investigators currently believe there is only one set of human remains in the area.
