ICYMI: Public Helps Police Nab Midtown Bank Robbery Suspect

Atlanta police have arrested a man they now believe was behind the armed robbery of a bank in Midtown earlier this month.

Tips provided to Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta helped police identify their suspect as Caleb Griffin, 30. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Griffin is suspected of robbing the Bank of America on Peachtree Street on March 5 and a bank on Roswell Road on Feb. 14.

Police suspect Griffin walked into the Midtown bank at approximately 11:30 a.m. and went to stand in line while talking loudly on his cell phone. When he arrived at the teller’s station, he allegedly announced the bank was being robbed and showed the teller a handgun stashed in his waistband. He escaped with an undisclosed amount of money, investigators said.

Griffin is also accused of using a weapon and threatening employees during the Roswell Road robbery, the AJC said.
