Inman Park Filmmaker To Be Honored
Fran Burst-Terranella will be recognized for 40 years of trailblazing achievements.

ATLANTA, GA -- Inman Park’s Fran Burst-Terranella has spent decades opening doors for women filmmakers.
On March 11, the Emmy-winning, independent film and TV director and producer will be recognized for her four decades of trailblazing achievements and leadership with a Black Women Film Network’s award.
Burst-Terranella was the first woman to graduate as a director from the University of Texas graduate film school. She helped gain passage of Georgia’s entertainment tax incentive as co-president of the Georgia Production Partnership from 2006-09.

She was also a a founding member of the Atlanta Film Society and Women in Film and Television/Atlanta and member of the Producers Guild of America and Women in Film/Los Angeles. Burst-Terranella also served as an Art Institute of Atlanta senior faculty member.
Burst-Terranella broke ground in the early 1980s when two of her award-winning documentaries aired nationally on ABC during a time when independently-produced films were rarely broadcast on commercial TV. She has earned “Tellys” and “CINE Eagles” for her documentaries on ABC, TBS and PBS.
