Kick Start Martial Arts Offers FREE Self Defense Classes To Build Confidence In Kids Walking To And From School
Do your kids know what to do if approached by a stranger on the way to school, in a store, at the park or walking to and from the bus stop?
In an effort to prepare the children, ages 6-18, who walk to and from school, bus stops or come home to a house without an adult after school, 4th degree Tang Soo Do black belt master instructor and owner of Kick Start Martial Arts (KSMA), Renard Beaty, is offering the community free introductory seminars to introduce children to self defense and awareness techniques. The skills shared are designed to help children defend themselves against acts of violence or abduction.
“One of the greatest gifts parents can give their child is the ability to protect him/herself when they are not around,” said Beaty. “Although this seminar is just the beginning of exposure to self-defense techniques, what your child will learn, if practiced and reviewed, be applied when needed should circumstances require it throughout a lifetime in various scenarios like in a store, on a playground or more regularly going to and from school.”
The seminars, being held Saturday, July 23, 2016, two 30 minute classes starting at 12:30 p.m. & 1:30 p.m. (please arrive 15 minutes early for your seminar) are FREE, but we welcome a new backpack with modest supplies (college rule paper, #2 pencils, highlighters, blue or black ball point pens, permanent markers) to benefit the M.A.D.E. (Motivated Adults Developing Excellence), an organization KSMA has partnered with to help collect and distribute 5,000 backpacks by July 31 to benefit youth in need at local schools.
